Horses & animal life
Stories and field notes about horses, wildlife and the responsibility of sharing the land with animals.
There is a particular kind of understanding that grows from spending time around animals. It is built with patience, consistency and attention to what cannot be said in words.
Horses
Good horsemanship begins before the ride. It is present in the daily care, the quiet approach, the fit of the tack and the willingness to listen to the animal in front of you. Every horse has its own temperament and needs.
Wildlife
Wild animals belong to the country on their own terms. Observe from a respectful distance, never feed wildlife and avoid disturbing nests, dens or young animals.
Care is part of the story
Responsible animal care is not a performance. It is the ordinary work of providing suitable food, water, shelter, veterinary attention and safe handling.
